Amanda Brandner Smith, O.D., began her professional career by obtaining a Bachelor in Biological Sciences at Samford University. She then worked as a surgical technician in oculo-plastic and anterior segment surgeries before returning to graduate school. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. Dr. Brandner trained at the Memphis Veterans Affairs Hospital specializing in ocular disease with an emphasis on diagnosis and management of diabetic eye disease and glaucoma. In addition, she completed a clinical rotation focusing on primary care and specialty fit contact lenses at Inverness Eyecare in Birmingham, AL.
Dr. Brandner starts her optometric career with an emphasis on post
surgical care and management. She works closely with Halpern ophthalmologist, co-managing LASIK and cataract patients. In addition to post-surgical care, Dr. Brandner has an interest in treating patients with corneal and anterior segment emergencies. She sees patients at Halpern Ophthalmology offices located at Eden Hill Medical Center in Dover, as well as Seaford.
Originally from beautiful Birmingham, AL, Dr. Brandner resides with her husband, Timothy Smith, O.D., in Delaware. She enjoys spending time at home with her husband, two dogs, and two cats. In her free time, Dr. Brandner loves being outdoors, traveling, and reading.
